While in the States for a few weeks, making my way back home to Singapore, a few days of skiing were in order to catch up with friends. While good snow was lacking, the party vibe in Southlake was happening. We ended up at Azul for dinner, party of eight. This place gets packed, no reservations. We drove by and a friend jumped out to put us on the waitlist. We then drove to our place and walked over to Azul. While on the way walking to Azul we got a text that our table was ready. The hostess greeted us with with a friendly smile, she showed us to our table. Water was immediately served! We were sunburned red, and dehydrated from a warm day of hard skiing at The Wood. That water was sooo welcome!! Our server "read the room." It only got better from there. All types of authentinc Mexican fare were ordered. Mine was the two crispy, shredded beef tacos with a refreshing side of cucumber and Jicama salad w/pickled cabbage and red onion Perfect. These were no Americanized T*co Bell stuff. But very authentic, non-greasy tacos one could find in various areas of Mexico. Others ordered the enchilada plate, carnitas burrito, fish tacos, etc. No one was disappointed. Portions were very generous. Some years back, I spent two years working in Central Mexico, the cuisine here at Azul is legit. The drinks were legit! The Bourbon Revolucion was ooh, soooo good! Nothing watered down here. We were not driving, so we hit the in-house bar afterwards for a few shots of Don Julio, reposado as "dessert." It was an evening for memories! The bar crowd was super fun and friendly. This Place was happening!!! Vibe is friendly, mixed groups, families, hen's night out, college bros, a few smartly dressed monied-types, tech bros. Everyone is welcomed and having fun. Parking can be crazy. Paid parking behind the Gondola Village or shopping center accross the street. Make no mistake, parking can be very difficult in this part of town. Family friendly, kids welcome. A dude walks around frequently vacuuming the floor with a very quiet, dyson-type vacuum (to keep carpets tidy from foot traffic). Outdoor fire pit, outdoor Live-music, in/outdoor dining, takeout. Highly recommend!

NICE WARM FIRE & EXCELLENT LIVE MUSIC & DOG FRIENDLY. Guitar, violin, cello by the fire. Mmm. The service from the host and Ana was fast & friendly; bless these servers working with bare hands in the freezing cold. Vegan chili was delicious and my partner enjoyed the ceviche and citrus bourbon drink. Thai tacos looked amazing, will likely try next time based on the good reviews.

This experience was a delight. After trying to go to another restaurant that had a 1.5 hour wait at around 4:30 pm, we strolled about and were told it would be a 20 minute wait here. Put my name down, got a convenient confirmation text, and walked around the shops for a bit. We got sat after like 15 minutes and our food came out so fast. First we put in an order of plain fries because it's one of the only foods our 5 year old will eat and we didn't like them. The server, Marci, offered to get some different ones for us. They were better but still kinda like mashed potatoes in a crispy vehicle? Marci offered to take it off the bill and then came our mains. Husband got the burrito with fried chicken and loved it. The spicy sauce is smoky with a kick. (I got a few bites.) At the suggestion of our superstar server, I ordered 3 crispy tacos. Chicken, carnitas, and beef. The carnitas was first up and I enjoyed them a lot. The beef was next and I rolled my eyes because it's THAT GOOD. The chicken was a bit salty. I still ate every bite. Also got chips and salsa and that salsa is scrumptious. Thanks for fixing my hanger, Azul! I was super grumpy and left very satisfied.

The dressing on the taco salad was packed with flavor and had a pleasant kick to it. The portion size was generous, and all the ingredients were fresh and delicious. The queso fundido was incredibly creamy and full of flavor. We dined outdoors, where live music enhanced the ambiance, creating a lively and enjoyable atmosphere. The service was efficient, and our food arrived promptly.

We had the opportunity to stop at Azul. The weather was so nice outside so we sat at the fire pit and enjoyed some music. The service here is good. The food was really good. Ice cold drinks. The price was fair for the location. We would recommend stopping here if you get the chance. They were great!

My family and I walked to Azul from our hotel (Harveys). It was a short walk, which made it nice and convenient. When we arrived, the restaurant was very busy. We checked in with one of the staff members, who put us on the waitlist. While we waited, we explored the nearby shops. About half an hour later, I received a text message letting us know our table was ready. The wait ended up being shorter than the estimated time they gave us, so it wasn't bad at all. Our group of 7 got seated at one of the outdoor tables. We decided to do family style, so we got everything to share. We ordered 3 taco plates, 3 azul bowls, a super burrito, and two drinks. Each taco plate came with 3 tacos, so we had 9 in total. We definitely had more than enough food. Our server was very helpful and patient. The food was good, and the portion sizes were generous. The azul bowls were flavorful, but the tacos were just okay - the meat lacked a bit of flavor. Overall, we had a nice and filling dinner.

My friends and I have been partaking in Happy Hour at Azul Latin Kitchen in South Lake Tahoe for over 10 years. It delivers a consistent, tasty Mexican option for those traveling to the area. Located in the heart of South Lake Tahoe at the corner of Lake Tahoe Blvd and Heavenly Village Way, you will find all of this pretty testy food and drink if you look for the blue umbrellas. Parking is available at several parking garages in the area (no validation). During the daytime, you'll find some local musical talent serenading Azul customers as they down their chips and guacamole. The menu is simple Mexican, and pretty much a good hearty option for lunch or dinner. Check in at the host stand, and opt to sit under one of the several umbrella-covered tables out front to people watch, or plenty of room inside or at the bar to relax and watch sports. The drinks are plenty, strong and suit all appetites and price points. On this particular trip, our group of five opted to share a $59 Cadillac Especial pitcher ($5 off during Happy Hour). I also opted to do the $28 Casamigos Tequila flight, which included three shots of Silver, Reposado and Anejo brands. All were strong, delicious and very tasty. For food, I went with the three crispy tacos plate: Sweet Potato, Carnitas Pork and Roasted Chicken. The portions were large and full of flavor. The tortillas crisp, wonderfully blended cheeses, outstanding pickled red onion, lime sour cream and cilantro. All very good for under $20. The chips and salad are also not too shabby as a starter. The vibe is relaxed, the service is fairly attentive and the location is amazing. The bathroom is average at best, with a regularly cleaning and paper towel refill a music more frequent occurrence. There are not many options for Mexican in South Lake Tahoe and Azul is one of the best.
